Abstract

Tourism accommodation development in Puhu Village gives an impact on water resources in the village. Proper management is needed therefore the existence of tourism accommodation does not exceed the carrying capacity of its environment. The aims of this study were to determine the development of tourism accommodation, analyze the magnitude of potential water resources and the magnitude of water demand for tourism accommodation, analyze the impact of the development of tourism accommodation on water resources and develop a strategy for managing water resources in Puhu Village. Interviews, observation and water sampling method and technique were applied to collect the data of this research which the result will then be compared with applicable water quality standards. SWOT matrix was used to analyze the data in order to determine water resource management strategies. The development of tourism accommodation in Puhu Village started in 2001 and in 2022 there were 9 tourism accommodation actively operated with 231 rooms in total. The water requirement for all tourism accommodation in Puhu Village is 1,604 liters per second. The water potential in Puhu Village was quite large, the total surface water discharge was 647 liters/second, the total groundwater discharge was 2.33 liters/second and had an average rainfall of 243.4 mm per year. The development of tourism accommodation in Puhu Village an impact on water quantity as the BOD⁵ value from samples taken from the Oos River flow exceeds the water quality standard threshold of Bali Gubernatorial Regulation Number 16 of 2016 of 10.6 mg/L and 12.1 mg/L. Based on the results of the SWOT analysis, 7 strategies were obtained for managing the water resources. The government role is highly expected to achieve successful water resources management in Puhu Village.
