Directive Illocutionary Acts in The Amazing Spiderman 2 Movie

Abstract

This study is entitled Directive Illocutionary Acts in The Amazing Spiderman 2 movie. The aim is to identify the directive illocutionary acts used by the characters and analyze the types of directive illocutionary based on theory by Searle and theory of context of the situation by Holmes as the support. The data was taken from a movie entitled The Amazing Spiderman 2. The data was collected by documentation method. In analyzing data, the method applied is the qualitative method. The data was presented in the form of a sentence using the descriptive method. The results show that there were eight types of directive illocutionary acts found in the movie. Those are ask, advise, command, demand, forbid, order, recommend, and request. The utterance above was analyzed by the theory of context of a situation that involves the participant, the setting, the topic, and the function.
