About the Journal

Aims & Scopes

Demonstration (p-ISSN: xxxx-xxxx | e-ISSN: xxxx-xxxx) is an international journal devoted to publishing and disseminating research, ideas, and practices on mathematics education. Specifically, it focuses on the critical, humanistic, political, or socio-cultural perspective of mathematics education and affects in mathematics teaching and learning. The journal is published by Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Mataram in collaboration with Unud Jurnal JUPI (JUPI) and has been indexed in SINTA 2 until 2025.

The scopes of the published articles in the prioritized order are as follows:

1) Critical, humanistic, political, or socio-cultural perspective of mathematics education (values, characters or moral development, language, equity, social justice, social-emotional, social-political, ethnomathematics, history, religion, etc)

The scope pertains to the idea that teaching and learning mathematics is not only about the mathematics itself but also its connection to a broader context of our life. For example, values in mathematics education which rooted in the work of Alan J Bishop, Mathematics Enculturation and followed by many research projects such as VAMP (Values and Mathematics Projects), VIMT (Values in Mathematics Teaching), WiFi (What I Find Important), and The Third Wave Project.

(2) Affects in mathematics teaching and learning

The scope deals with a basic question, how mathematics-related affects contribute to the teaching and learning of mathematics?

The affects in mathematics education can be various topics such as beliefs, emotions, self-efficacy, confidence, motivations, identity, mathematics anxiety. The researches (ideas of research) on related topics can be traced to the works of Markku S. Hannula, CERME Proceedings, ICME Proceedings, and published books in Springer or other publishers.

(3) The development of students mathematics literacy

This scope answers the question, how does mathematics learning develops students' mathematics literacy?

It refers to research on the teachers' effort from primary until undergraduate to support and enhance students' roles and engagement in constructing mathematics knowledge and skills. It is not only about the achievement of students but also the process of learning which develops character, values, attitudes, problem-solving, reasoning and proof, representations, connections, communications, and high order thinking. The teachers' effort can be in the form of developing mathematics tasks, learning materials, the use of digital technologies, etc.

(4) The development of mathematics teachers (pre-service and in-service) competencies

The scope is devoted to any research, which supports prospective or in-service mathematics teachers develop their pedagogical values, pedagogical identities, and knowledge through mathematics teacher education and professional development programs.

Policies

» Section Policies

The published articles are open submission, indexed and peer-reviewed

» Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge

» Plagiarism Check

The editor will run a plagiarism check using Turnitin for the submitted articles before sending to the reviewers. We do not process any plagiarised contents. If an article has over 20% of plagiarism based on the result of the check, we will send back the article to the author to be revised for the plagiarised contents

» Peer Review

Every submitted article will go thorugh a pre-review by a section editor to make sure the article meets the quality standard of the journal, either format or content. If the article fulfill the standard, it will be sent to the peer-review stage where at least two peer-reviewers (Double Blind) will be assigned to review it. The decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based upon their reports/recommendation. After being reviewed, there will be four kinds of editor decision based on the reviewers’ recommendation and editors' discussion:

Accept Submission: The submission will be accepted without revisions.
Revisions Required: The submission will be accepted after minor changes have been made.
Resubmit for Review: The submission needs to be re-worked, but with significant changes, may be accepted. It will require a second round of review, however.
Decline Submission: The submission will not be published in the journal.

» Article Revision

The articles sent back to the authors for revision should be returned to the editor without delay. The revised article returned later than 20 days will be considered as new submissions. The revised article can be sent to editorial through the Online Submission Interface

» Article Processing Charges (APCs)
No APCs for the authors; publication in the journal is free of charge.

» Withdrawal of Articles

The author(s) is not allowed to withdraw submitted articles in the process of reviewing including pre-review, because the withdrawal is a waste of valuable resources that editors and reviewers spent a great deal of time processing submitted articles. The withdrawal can be direct requests or without confirmation in which the authors do not send their revised articles. For this circumstance, they will be fined IDR 750.000 per article. However, it is unethical to withdraw a submitted manuscript from one journal if accepted by another journal. The withdrawal of articles after they are accepted for publication, the author(s) will be subject to pay IDR 1.000.000 per article. The withdrawal of article is only allowed after the fine has been fully paid to the Publisher. If the author(s) does not agree with the payment, the author(s) and his/her affiliation will be blacklisted for publication in this journal. Even, his/her previously published articles will be removed from our journal.
