Correction and Retraction

E-Jurnal Matematika (MTK)

E-Jurnal Matematika (MTK) takes its responsibility to uphold the integrity, rigor, and completeness of the mathematical scholarly record very seriously. Modifications to articles post-publication are strictly regulated and handled according to international ethical standards and best practices in the mathematical publishing community.

1. Erratum / Corrigendum

An Erratum (or Corrigendum) is issued when significant mathematical inaccuracies, symbolic typos, proof omissions, or calculation errors are identified following publication:

  • The author(s) submit a concise, formal statement specifying the exact location of the error, the correct formulation, and an explicit evaluation of whether the error affects the validity of the primary theorems, lemmas, propositions, or core conclusions.
  • The original published article is not removed from the online archive. Instead, a formal Erratum notice is published, assigned its own DOI, made freely accessible, and bi-directionally linked to the original article.
  • If the error originates from the editorial or typesetting process, it is designated and published as an Addendum or Publisher’s Erratum.

2. Retraction

A Retraction is an official notice indicating that the paper must no longer be regarded as part of valid scientific literature. Retractions are executed under the following conditions:

  • There is clear evidence that the mathematical results, formal proofs, or computational algorithms are fundamentally flawed, invalid, or unreliable—whether as a result of deliberate misconduct or honest scientific error.
  • Clear evidence of ethical breaches, including plagiarism, redundant publication (self-plagiarism), fabrication of numerical/computational results, or unauthorized use of intellectual property.

Retraction Protocol:

  • In accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Retraction Guidelines, the retracted article is not deleted from the digital repository. The online version of record (PDF) is retained and prominently watermarked with “RETRACTED” across each page.
  • A formal Retraction Note outlining the reasons and justification is published, indexed, and permanently linked to the article.
  • Bibliographic metadata remains preserved in the archive. Full physical deletion of the file is restricted solely to rare legal mandates (e.g., severe copyright violations or court orders).

3. Publisher’s Note & Article Replacements

A Publisher’s Note informs readers of corrections necessitated by production, typographical, or technical failures attributable to the publisher (e.g., rendering errors in LaTeX formulas, distorted mathematical symbols, or bibliographic metadata discrepancies in titles, affiliations, or author bylines).

  • Timeframe Rule: An original article file may be directly replaced with a corrected version only if the correction is reported and processed within one (1) year of the official online publication date.
  • Articles Older than One Year: For articles published more than one year prior, the original file remains unmodified. Corrections are documented exclusively via a separate Publisher’s Note linked to the paper.
  • Minor typographical errors that do not affect the mathematical validity, comprehension of proofs, or indexing metadata are handled at the sole discretion of the Editorial Board.
