Abstract

Candikuning Village’s land is located in the highlands with topography ranging from flat to very steep and high rainfall intensity, causing land erosion. Therefore, research related to erosion using the RUSLE method is necessary. The RUSLE method measures five parameters: rainfall erosivity, soil erodibility, length and slope index, land cover vegetation index, and land management index. This study aimed to determine erosion values and erosion danger levels of the land. Based on overlaying soil type, slope, and land cover maps, 40 land characteristic units were identified. Analysis showed that Candikuning Village’s rainfall erosivity was 239.82 MJ mm/ha/hour/year. Soil erodibility parameters ranged from 0.18 to 0.53. Length and slope index values based on slope classification were 0.29–1.79 for flat land, 1.97–3.70 for sloping, 2.94–7.23 for slightly steep, 6.11–10.17 for steep, and 10.25–13.42 for very steep land. Land cover vegetation index included 13 vegetation types with C index values of 0.001, 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.7, and 1.0. Land management index had six management types with P index values of 0.032, 0.4, 0.5, 0.75, 0.9, and 1.0. Based on RUSLE calculations, erosion prediction values ranged from 0.11 to 313.59 tons/ha/year. Land categorized by erosion danger levels very light, light, medium, heavy, and very heavy covered areas of 1,552.92 ha, 260.54 ha, 124.12 ha, and 23.84 ha, respectively, with no land classified as very severe.
