Spatio-Temporal Analysis of The Conversion of Paddy Fields Tabanan Regency

Tabanan Regency is known as a rice barn in the Province of Bali, with rice fields covering 28% of its total area. According to data from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), grain production in Tabanan Regency decreased by 19,181 tons between 2018 and 2022. One of the reasons for the decline in production is thought to be the conversion of paddy fields. This study aimed to determine the distribution and area of paddy field conversion and to analyze the trend of changes in paddy field function. The research stages included collecting Sentinel-2A image data, cloud masking, spatial analysis, and temporal analysis of land conversion from 2018 to 2022. Spatial analysis showed that land use consists of lakes, buildings, gardens, rice fields, and fields. Temporal analysis results indicate that paddy fields converted to buildings cover 1,209.794 ha, to gardens 1,380.275 ha, to fields 2,630.746 ha, while remaining paddy fields cover 1,687.179 ha. Land use changes from gardens to paddy fields cover 2,199.893 ha, and from fields to paddy fields 982.892 ha. It can be concluded that the largest trend in paddy field changes in Tabanan Regency from 2018 to 2022 is the conversion of paddy fields to fields, followed by gardens and buildings.
