COMPARISON OF MILK PRODUCTION AND QUALITY OF FRIESIAN HOLSTEIN DAIRY COWS TOWARDS MILKING TIME AT UPTD BPTSP HPT LEMBANG

Milking time is a factor that must be considered for milk production on dairy farms. Inconsistencies in the milking schedule affect the quality and volume of milk produced. This study aimed to determine the differences in milk quantity and quality between morning and afternoon milkings in second-lactation dairy cows at 15:9 milking intervals. The study used a purposive sampling method on 17 second-lactation cows, with a total of 204 milk samples collected once a week for six weeks and analyzed using a t-test. The parameters observed included milk production, protein, fat, specific gravity, Non-Fat Solids (SNF), and milk pH. The results showed that morning milk production (7,45 ± 1,98 kg), protein (3,22 ± 0,09%), specific gravity (1,030 ± 0,00 g/mL), and Non-Fat Solids (SNF) (8,82 ± 0,20%) were significantly higher (p < 0,05) compared to the afternoon, namely milk production (4.43 ± 1.07 kg), protein (2,93 ± 0.15%), specific gravity (1,026 ± 0,00 g/mL), and SNF (8,00 ± 0,37%). Conversely, fat content was higher (p < 0,05) between morning (6, 87 ± 0, 57) and afternoon (6, 89 ± 0, 51) milkings. pH values did not show a significant difference (P <0,05) between morning (6,87 ± 0,57) and afternoon (6,89 ± 0,51) milkings. It can be concluded that the 15:9 interval yields different results for the morning and afternoon milkings.
