Retraction, Withdrawal, & Correction (RWC) Policy

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board of the Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming are ready to receive improvements, corrections, and critical input. If there is an error from the author, we will issue a correction and notify the author to correct the manuscript immediately. We will issue a correction statement if the error is in the journal. Retraction is only performed for highly problematic articles whose findings cannot be trusted. We are always open to admitting and correcting mistakes. If readers find errors in our articles, we encourage them to let us know immediately so we can fix them quickly.

Article Retraction

The Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming is committed to maintaining the integrity of the track record of published scientific work. Therefore, it is sometimes necessary to withdraw articles that experience problems. Articles can be withdrawn if:

  • There are fatal errors in the manuscript that would invalidate the article's conclusions, for example, where there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable or errors in the calculations and presentation of data.
  • The article was published elsewhere without proper cross-tagging, permission, or adequate justification.
  • There are ethical issues such as plagiarism or errors in article ownership.

Article Withdrawal

Authors may not cancel the submission of manuscripts that have been sent. This is because canceling a manuscript submission is an action that wastes the time and effort of publishers, editors, and reviewers who have spent much time processing the manuscript. Authors must agree to the checklist we provide before submitting a manuscript via our OJS site.

Suppose

  • an article has been published as an "Article in Progress" (an article that has been accepted for publication but has not yet been published and does not yet have complete information about volume/edition/pages). The article contains errors that turn out to be accidental copies of other articles that have been published or violate journal publication ethics. In that case, the article will be withdrawn from the Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming website.
  • If the author wishes to cancel the manuscript submission, the author must send an official letter signed by the author and the head of his institution to the Main Editor.

The Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming considers correcting article errors if:

  • A small percentage of articles are incorrect or confusing, mainly due to inadvertent errors.
  • The list of authors or contributors is incorrect (for example, an author who should be there is not there, or someone who should not be listed as an author).

Corrections to articles that have passed the peer review stage can occur if:

  • Correction from the publisher: notification to readers that there has been a material error made by publication/journal staff that affects the publication record, the honesty of the article, or the reputation of the author and journal.
  • Correction from the author: notification to readers that a material error has been made by the author that affects the publication record, the honesty of the article, or the reputation of the author and the journal.
  • Added information: an addition to an article by the author to explain a discrepancy, expand an existing discussion, or clarify or update information in the main text.

The journal editor usually decides on whether to correct an error, with advice from reviewers or editorial board members. The article's editor will contact the concerned author to ask for an explanation. However, the editor determines the final decision about whether corrections need corrections and what type of correction is needed.

Article Removal

Sometimes, we have to delete articles already published on our website. This only happens if the article is hurtful to others, violates legal rights, or maybe banned by a court. When something like that happens, information such as the title and who wrote the article will remain, but the text will be replaced with a message saying the article was removed for legal reasons.

Article Replacement

If an article could pose a serious risk to its readers, the author may wish to retract the original version and replace it with a corrected version. In such circumstances, the article withdrawal procedure will be followed with the difference that the withdrawal notification will contain a link to the corrected republished article and a history of the document.
