Author Guideline
1. The Manuscript General Guidelines
Thank you for publishing your work in the Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming. We welcome high-quality articles focusing on small-scale farming, with its unique features and unique wisdom. Coverage of topics regarding agricultural development, such as small and medium agribusiness (including fisheries and livestock); agricultural human resources, fishermen and livestock breeders with village level research areas; agricultural socio-economic problems with research areas at village or sub-district level; use of social media in agriculture; artificial intelligence in agriculture with limited application; household scale organic farming; solutions to minimize plant disease attacks; integrated pest management for small-scale agriculture; and home garden.
Manuscripts that do not follow the templates that we provide will be returned for revision without review. Please read the Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming writing guide and follow the template provided. The editor has the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the guidelines below.
The following is a guide to the manuscript of the Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming:
- Manuscripts to be published must be written in good and correct English (applies to writers from outside Indonesia or Indonesian writers who collaborate with international writers).
- Especially for writers from Indonesia, manuscripts to be published must be written in Indonesian to maintain the quality of the language. The review process is carried out in Indonesian; if it is suitable for publication per with the Peer Review Process, the manuscript will be translated into English.
- The manuscript is free from (a) fabrication, (b) falsification, c) plagiarism, (d) duplication, (e) fragmentation/salami, and (f) data/content copyright infringement.
- The manuscript has never been published in other publication media.
- The manuscript has been written by with the guidelines of the Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming (template for authors). Manuscripts are sent by the author online on the journal website (submission link).
- Manuscripts that do not comply with the guidelines provided will be returned to the author without being reviewed.
- The manuscript must contain several aspects of a scientific article: title, author's identity, abstract and keywords, introduction, literature review, research methods, results and discussion, conclusions, and references.
- Manuscripts must be at most 8,000 words. The manuscript is written on A4 paper with an Arial font size of 11 and spacing of15. Words from unfamiliar or foreign languages are italicized.
2. The Guidelines for the Manuscript Body Text
- The Title Of The Manuscript: The title of the manuscript must be informative and written briefly and clearly. It cannot have multiple interpretations. Must refer directly to the issue to be discussed.
- The Abstract And Keywords: The abstract must briefly state the research objectives, primary results, and conclusions. Abstracts are often presented separately from articles, so they must be able to stand on their own. The abstract should be written in one paragraph with a maximum of 200 words. Avoid using complicated quotations and abbreviations in the abstract. Keywords cannot be more than five words or phrases in the alphabetical order that has not been used in the title. Keywords are labels for manuscripts used in manuscript searches.
- Introduction: The introduction is a summary of the manuscript, which must contain the research background, research focus, problem, primary research, reasons why the research was conducted, and why it is important to conduct the research. The introduction includes a brief overview of the research that is easy for the general reader to understand.
- Research Methods: Research methodology explains the methods used to analyze research objectives. Methodology must contain the research location, subject and concept, samples used, data collection methods, and data analysis methods used in the research.
- Results And Discussion: Results and discussion contain research results supported by discussion that shows the sharpness of analysis and theory carried out critically, including descriptions of research findings that sharply discuss their relationship to previous concepts or theories, compare them critically with other people's work, and strengthen or correct previous findings. These results and discussion must be able to answer the research objectives discussed in the introduction.
- Conclusion: Conclusions are answers to research objectives and research findings. The conclusion must summarize the research results accroding to the author’s hopes for the research objectives. At the end of the conclusion, suggestions or recommendations regarding the research conducted or input are added that can be directly used by readers.
- Recommendations: Recommendations present things that will be done with further ideas from the research the author is conducting. The recommendation section contains suggestions that can be applied to further research. Describe the weaknesses of the research and what the author can suggest for future researchers to improve.
- References: All references used in the article must be listed in this section. All references must be taken from primary sources (scientific journals or books) published within the last five years.
- Author Contributions: The contribution of each author in preparing the manuscript
- Graphical Abstract: A Graphical Abstract is like a movie poster that reveals the storyline. It should attract potential readers with attractive graphics. Graphical Abstracts should be designed so that someone skimming a paper or browsing a website or social media can understand the basics of what you do and what you find at a glance.
3. The Guidelines for the Citations and References
All data or quotations presented in articles taken from other authors' articles must be accompanied by reference sources. References should use a reference management application such as Mendeley. The reference writing format used in the Indonesian Journal of Small-Scale Farming follows the Harvard format.
