Landscape study to stengthen city identity: a case studi of Depok City. Depok City is a municipality within the Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi) area located in West Java Province. This city has a continuously increasing population, thus changing the shape of the landscape in Depok City, such as from agricultural land to industrial and residential areas. As an area directly adjacent to Jakarta, Depok City has become a residence for Jakarta workers. Although it was designated as an independent city in 1999, the identity of Depok City is still associated with Jakarta. In fact, each city has its own uniqueness and characteristics that become its own identity. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with data obtained through a literature study on Depok City and theories related to landscape and urban identity. The data were then analyzed using Lynch's theory (1960) to obtain an overview of landscape characteristics to strengthen urban identity. In this study, Depok City was used as a case study. The results show that the landscape in Depok City is composed of five elements that form a city image that can strengthen the city's identity. Thus, landscape studies can be an approach to strengthening urban identity through an understanding of landscape theory, the historical value of the city, and city image.
