The Development of an Automatic Fish Feeder based on Arduino Mega

Fish cultivation holds profitable potential for businesses, especially in developing countries. Generally, cultivation requires regular care and attention, and the growth and reproduction of fish are significantly influenced by consistent feeding. By implementing an automated system for fish feeding, cultivators can simplify the process, eliminating the need to manually provide feed at set intervals. This study aims to design and create an automated fish feeder device based on the Arduino Mega microcontroller and to evaluate the performance of the system. The design incorporates components such as a keypad, LCD, HC-SR04 sensor, RTC sensor, buzzer, servo motor, DC motor, load cell, and relay to control and measure the feed's weight and regulate feeding frequency. The constructed system produces a prototype with dimensions of 37 cm in diameter, 40 cm in width, and 95 cm in height, while the feeder measures 15 cm in length, 15 cm in width, and 26 cm in height. The automated fish feeder system demonstrates effective performance, with the HC-SR04 sensor showing an error of 0.5%, the RTC sensor a time difference of 10 seconds from real time, and the load cell sensor an error of 1.75%. This system successfully assists users in providing automatic and scheduled fish feeding.
