Kertha Semaya: Journal Ilmu Hukum was first published electronically using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform in December 2012 by the Faculty of Law, Udayana University, under E-ISSN 2303-0569.

Since 2018, the journal has been managed under the Publication Unit of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University. The journal employs a standardized manuscript template and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for journal publishing, which are continuously refined. The author guidelines and publishing SOP were updated in 2018 and further enhanced in 2019 to elevate the quality of writing and journal publication. As of November 11, 2019, Kertha Semaya Journal achieved national accreditation (SINTA Rank 6) based on the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development Strengthening, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Decree No. 30/E/KPT/2019 concerning the Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals Period VI of 2019).

Kertha Semaya is an open-access journal published on a monthly basis. All submitted articles undergo a rigorous peer-review process, starting with an initial editorial evaluation by the Board of Editors followed by a comprehensive peer review by expert reviewers or validators. Reviewers are tasked with thoroughly evaluating the relevance of legal authorities, theoretical frameworks, and prior relevant research utilized by authors in their legal analysis.
