Literasi Media Sosial sebagai Prediktor Sikap Kritis Mahasiswa dalam Mengevaluasi Informasi di Era Digital

The high consumption of information on social media has not been accompanied by students' ability to respond to it critically, as reflected in their tendency to accept information without adequate verification. This study aims to examine the influence of social media literacy ability on the critical attitude of students at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 100 students randomly selected from a population of 19,635 undergraduates, then analyzed using simple linear regression, t-test, and the coefficient of determination (R2) with the aid of IBM SPSS 26. The results indicate that social media literacy has a positive and significant effect on students' critical attitude, with a t-value of 6.821 > t-table 1.984 and a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, contributing 32.2%. Descriptively, social media literacy was highest in the analysis indicator (3.79) and lowest in grouping (3.22), while critical attitude was highest in open-mindedness and inquisitiveness (3.88) and lowest in self- confidence (3.45). These findings demonstrate that social media literacy contributes to students' critical attitude through a staged cognitive process, making the strengthening of social media literacy programs in higher education an important step toward building students who are critically minded and intellectually responsible in the digital era.
